Tell us about yourself?
I am Raj Chowdhury, the Founder, and CEO of PayBito & HashCash Consultants.
I have pioneered the first interbank Trade Finance and Remittance implementation of Blockchain Technology between two of the largest global banks. I have been an eminent voice in the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency space and actively engage with policymakers in this area. I’m a contributor to Economic Times, Business World, CNNMoney and advocate blockchain adoption to industry leaders.
As the CEO of PayBito, my key role is to drive the strategic course of the organization, influencing the industry at large. I am in constant communication with my team brainstorming with them, ensuring that we stay updated to the market influences while keeping innovation central to all our solutions and services.
Apart from my operational engagement within PayBito, I actively take part in creating global standards for interoperability by engaging with the International Standards organization and other industry entities.
I also work with regulators globally to invent and create scalable architectures for businesses in the blockchain and crypto space to prosper. I believe that prosperity and advancement come with strategic alliances rather than competing with peers, especially in the world that we live in today.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
To take it easy!
I’d been going top gear for a while before realizing that I’d made no significant difference to the company. That’s when I realized that it was also about making a contribution to the cryptocurrency sector that will translate into serious progress for the company. I needed to realize that things have their ‘incubation period’ and a technology shift cannot happen overnight.

What is the inspiration behind your business?
It was early 2011 when I first came across Bitcoin. Having experienced the depression of 2008 firsthand; the concept of crypto fascinated me. That was the reckoning that led me into the world of blockchain and cryptocurrency.
As I mentioned before, I’ve been through the depression of 2008 and finding a way to bypass such events has always been on my mind. A parallel or alternative way to distribute investments so they’re not affected by global ‘financial avalanche’ situations. The Bitcoin whitepaper intrigued me and I visualized infinite possibilities through it.
We often talk about the problems that blockchain technology can solve. The possibilities are endless. We propose solutions on blockchain networks that may resolve real-world problems.
Socially, decentralization is the alternative route towards equitable distribution of wealth. I believe in it. As an industry, it is a common goal to have investors envision the prospects to be derived from it, and common people learn of and embrace the alternative asset classes offered by the cryptocurrency.
What is your magic sauce?
I don’t believe in any recipe!
We are driven by innovation, market research, and ideation in all departments. I push for smart ideas and more ways to strike our targets.
I have a talented and highly motivated staff who are on the job, developing, and improvising. I guess, as a team, we are competent enough to top the charts!
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
For the next five years, we work on the same lines as we did in the past few. We research, conceptualize and derive solutions.
Technology-wise we have plans to diversify. We intend to take on bigger projects involving the incorporation of Web 3.0 or higher as we go; incorporate advanced technologies in our solutions and hope to drive decentralized finance.
Also, we plan to go IPO later this year.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
The biggest challenge for me is to persuade my employees to accept a partial salary in cryptocurrency.
On a serious note, it has been a challenge to reach out to people and make them see a reason to graduate from their legacy systems into an upgraded blockchain-driven system. The system is capable of solving nearly all of the problems faced by the legacy systems, at the same time saving on time and energy. It’s hard to have the large industries move even after you’ve convinced them.
Suspicion and skepticism are the roadblocks in this sector alongside negative publicity arising from a lack of understanding or flawed notions.
The pandemic-driven challenges forced us to work remotely cutting out the physical bonding-over-work that we have always enjoyed.
How do people get involved/buy into your vision?
Having blurted out what I did in the earlier section, it is also true that it is fairly simple to get people to recognize our potential once they have read up and understood all that we stand for.
Learning and correct understanding is key to the opportunities hidden in this sector. There is still a huge crowd of people who are willing to experiment in the crypto market.
We primarily target institutional crypto investors to get crypto exchange architecture from us. We also wish to reach out to Forex broker firms to introduce the integrated technology encompassing both Forex and crypto on the same software. We offer a demo version of both on our sites.
