Dr. Maximilian Korkmaz: Web 3.0 Social Platform, on Which Individuals Own and Monetize Their Content, Goods and Services Through Onchain Peer-to-Peer (Micro)Transactions

my2cents is a web3.0 social platform, on which individuals own and monetize their content, goods and services through onchain peer-to-peer (micro)transactions.

Bau.ap is a blockchain-based all-in-one construction-management solution that aims to achieve circular construction utilizing internet of things, smart contracts and metaverse.

Tell us about yourself?

I built structures, including a Google data center, a treatment plant that is worth 33 Billion EUR, high-end hotels, airport structures, bridges and other infrastructure on several continents.

Artificial intelligence, stochastic algorithms and machine learning allowed me to design a robotic bridge that can self-diagnose and self-repair.

Blockchain allowed me to create a platform, on which users own and monetize their content, as well as contribute to the circular economy.

I am currently building a platform that will change how construction projects are managed utilizing smart contracts and “metaverse”.

Next, I am going to implement internet of things to overcome particular challenges in construction management.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

I am currently active in the blockchain community. I teach blockchain in construction at graduate level, and I work intercontinentally within the Bitcoin delegation. I would love to have started interacting with people from all over the world about blockchain and circular economy earlier.

What problem does your business solve?

my2cents: In the silicon-valley based current social media, the proprietary rights of internet users are not respected, which disincentivizes users from creating online content or engaging in p2p commerce. Through micropayments, my2cents incentivizes users to create better and more online/onchain content, along with providing a platform for commerce among individuals.

Bau.app: Construction is the least digitalized and one of the least efficient industries. We provide tools to achieve an efficient and circular construction industry, where payment frictions do not exist, materials for new buildings come from old buildings, and projects do not end up with court cases.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

my2cents:

The aggressive exploitation of users through social media has inspired us. my2cents is for everyone who does not want to be tracked by corporations.

On my2cents, users do not have to submit your personal information (e.g. name, date of birth, ethnic background and citizenship) or contact information (e.g. email address and phone number), unlike on other platforms. We do not know what users like or dislike. We are neither interested in manipulating the users’ thoughts nor using intrusive tools, such as Google Analytics, to be able to sell them goods and services they do not need. We do not use targeted advertising through third-party cookies. Also, users can turn off ads altogether on my2cents.

Bau.app:

As a civil engineer, I have been building on several continents for more than 16 years. Being on the construction site daily taught me the everyday issues of the industry. I harnessed my experience with a vision, where construction companies are more efficient and environmentally friendly, and Bau.app was the outcome.

What is your magic sauce?

my2cents: We do not track our users’ online (or offline) actions. We make sure our users are paid for quality content.

There is no “follow” function on my2cents. We pay attention to what is said, not who says it.

No content is shadowbanned on my2cents. You will encounter ideas, feelings and worldview of people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, thus eliminate confirmation bias.

my2cents does not have an algorithm that determines what is displayed to each user, unlike other social platforms and search engines. Every user sees the same content on my2cents, if their “recent/top” settings are the same.

my2cents does not determine whose content is viewed more, unlike other social platforms and search engines.

On my2cents, you do not have to submit your personal information (e.g. name, date of birth, ethnic background and citizenship) or contact information (e.g. email address and phone number), unlike on other platforms. We do not know what you like or dislike. We are neither interested in manipulating your thoughts nor using intrusive tools, such as Google Analytics, to be able to sell you goods and services you do not need. We do not use targeted advertising through third-party cookies, although you have given us, for legal protection purposes, the permission to use them. In fact, we do not use targeted advertising at all, even if you use my2cents with ads.

Bau.app: We are an all-in-one app for all stakeholders of construction projects. We do almost everything any other construction app can do. On top of that, we use state-of -the-art technologies such as blockchain and internet of things, to solve problems of construction workers, engineers, architects, suppliers, subcontractors, contractors and clients.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

my2cents: The plan is to make the web2.0 platforms, which exploit their users, obsolete.

Bau.app: The plan is to become the go-to solution for all stakeholders of construction projects.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

The funding game is inefficient. I have been building my apps with the money I earned from construction instead of VC funding, as I choose to spend my time for building instead of long VC procedures.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

You can start using my2cents.io to see how web3 social-media looks like.
