Dino Jerkovic: Platform for Storing and Creating Memorials That Could Last Forever

Spiritus is a platform for storing and creating memorials that could last forever. We believe that every human that ever lived has at least one life story worth remembering. That’s why the essence of our app are life stories, not just biographical data.

Tell us about yourself?

Recently I was the youngest Creative Manager in Croatia. I used to work for SuperSport unicorn-to-be from Croatia that is the leading sports betting company in the CEE region. My job was to create and manage innovative business & marketing approaches to help gain new users, gain more revenue and overall help the brand image. Also during my student years at the University of Zagreb I won almost every business and app-development contest.

Since I was always prone to writing and reading amazing short stories. Project like Spiritus struck me like a lightning. I always adored hearing heroic and beautiful tales of popular or ordinary folk. But the tragedy was that 99% of those stories are lost. I decided then to use my gained skills to form a phenomenal team and tackle this age-old problem.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

It will be much more difficult that you think. But stay foolish and stay hungry. At the end of the day, everything will be good.

What problem does your business solve?

99% of people that ever lived are forgotten like they never existed. We don’t know how they looked, what was their passion or even what was their names. 99% of people that currently live are destined to the same thing – oblivion. Our platform is here to enable every user to save the memories of your loved ones through storytelling in a beautiful, simple and secure way.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

There is a famous Croatian folk song called Andrija Čordaš. That’s a storytelling song about a ordinary guy from Croatia that lived after WW2. He was a villager, had a wife, few dogs and some pigs. He adored to play his flute and living a simple life. When he died, just several people attended his funerals and that should be the end of his story.

But, one of those people at the funeral was a poet. He decided to make a poem about the life of this ordinary, beautiful man. The best Croatian folk band (named: “Najbolji hrvatski tamburaši”) then decided to make a song about him. After the song, Andrija Čordaš became one of the most famous names in the rural side of Croatia.

So I simple man was remembered. How many people lived ordinary and made something really beautiful but it got forgotten? They didn’t had the privilege of knowing a poet to wrote their life stories. That’s why we created Spiritus. We believe that everyone can become like Andrija Čordaš and that every person that ever lived has at least one life story worth teling.

What is your magic sauce?

Two things stand out the most: a) IPFS blockchain protocol. We are developing a product where a created memorial could last forever, and the blockchain technology is the ideal technology for it.
b) our competitors are focused on biographical data (names and dates), our fouces are life stories.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

In five years, if we do it right, we can change the way people save memorials. Globally. Everyone can have a beautiful memorial of their loved ones in a simple, beautiful and secure way. With our app, you can celebrate other humans life in a different way. Just imagine that there is a platform that has the most beautiful, inspiration life-stories in one place. That could be us.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Beta launching the app for Croatian market in November last year. We wanted to see the initial reaction of the public. The reactions were beautiful and emotional. Also, we got a ton of valuable feedback and now we are redesigning some parts of the app to be even more user-friendly.

Also, we are in late stages of our fundraising. Everyone knows that this is a month-long battle.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

Since we are in late stages of our fundraising, we encourage potential angel investors to reach to us by contacting us the mail [email protected] They have a unique opportunity to join a project that could change a lot of things in a beautiful way, globally. So, if there is someone reading that looks an exciting B2C oriented project with a huge potential, don’t hesitate to contact me.
